Do you have to have a Co Signer for a loan?

My husband needs to get a loan for a school so he can get his pilots license (ATP flight school). The problem is they are asking for a co signer but unfortunately we don't have anyone. We don't speak to our family members and the only 2 we talk to can't do it. I can't do it because my credit is bad. We NEED this loan so my husband can give us a better future. He's starting school (SIU,Southern Illinois University) in August and this pilot license is not only going to help him get rid of some cles but get a better job while he's going to school. Please help! He's come so far and worked so hard in the past 2 years we can't let this obstacle get in the way. Thank you. One more thing he has good credit.
